After her appointment, Stevenson said that “it is a great honor to appoint a new chairman of the Commission on Equality and Human Rights in such a critical time.”

“I spent more than 30 years, creating my career in the equality and human rights sector, and I am glad that I had the opportunity to give my understanding and experience to bring EHRC with compassion, honesty and devotion,” she said.

“I look forward to the opportunity to work with the government and all interested parties along with my new colleagues in EHRC in order to maintain equality and human rights and ensure that they turn to everyone with respect and dignity.”
